A Playground UPDATE from the SMS PTO and Mr. Wolfe:
Late last year, the front playground at South Mountain School was deemed by the district to be unsafe. It has been closed since December as a few pieces to make it operational have been on back order. Once these replacement parts come in, if they come in, they are simply a temporary solution, and not a permanent one.
In our district, the PTOs are responsible for funding the playgrounds at each school. The SMS PTO has raised approximately $85,000 toward the $125,000 cost to buy a new front playground. Now we need your help to raise the remaining funds to make this new playground a reality this school year.
To help achieve this goal, we are opening a brick sale, where the bricks will line the base of the new foundation. For a $600 donation, donors will receive a brick that they can have inscribed with a message of their choice, as a legacy to their time in the community. Families who previously donated the noted amount to the playground fund will also receive a brick.
We also welcome any tax-deductible donation and corporate matching.
